If your using your PC like an adapter then yes. Anything you can do with a notebook you can do with a PS3.

@simonrexful The are U.S.B wireless adapters made for your desktop but this particular example a PCMIA adapter it only works with PCMIA ports most commonalty found on laptops

So this answer is this adapter won’t work but some do

You can’t really do much if you don’t have a wireless router close by.
There are lots of schemes to pick up signals farther away, but that usually means you are "stealing" someone else’s signal. While you may be able to manage to do that, eventually it fails because the "other" person puts on wireless security, changes a router, or finds out you are "stealing" their signal…

The only real solution, to get a good signal and higher transfer rates, is to buy your own internet service, put in a high quality router and connect with your laptop to that. Of course, you are going to put on good wireless security on your own router in that case, are you not? You wouldn’t want anyone "stealing" your internet via your wireless signal now would you?

you have a router in your home that the wireless cars on the laptop connects to (wirelessly) OR you pay for wireless internet service from an ISP and you can surf the net anywhere, not just in your home/librayery/school, etc

u pay an isp for internet and get a wireless router for ur home …. or u go to a place that has a wireless hotspot like a library or airport …

Your laptop needs a wireless internet card, which will transmit to any router capable of receiving wireless transmissions. That router then connects to the Internet, usually through cable modem or DSL.

The wireless part only really applies to your computer itself. The router will wind up physically connected to DSL/cable modem/dial up.
